The Blues

Hey guys! So I got some new toys for my camera, including way better lighting. It’s still not great, but it’s better than what I dealt with before. The only two things in this look that are not first impressions are my highlighter and I used my Tarte Pro Palette for my eyes. Other than that, though, everything else is a new product that I’m trying out for the first time!

Of course I’ll leave all of the details below, as usual, but I’m trying something else out and if you click here:  you’ll get to see it! I don’t know if I’ll keep up with this on a regular basis yet…but I had a lot of fun making it! I’m in no way a pro whatsoever, so yes, I know my brows look a bit whacky but hey, the rest is good so if you don’t look at them you won’t notice!! I hope you guys enjoy this look and please like this and comment what you think about the products I used or if there’s another look you want me to try out!

Drugstore Must-Haves

So here’s the second part to my Must-Haves! As seen before, I went through my favorite High-End products. Who doesn’t love saving money on makeup, right? A lot of these products are dupes for the high-end ones, and you can find lists of that all over the place. Sometimes, the drugstore products are just as good as, if not better than, those products that make your wallet sad.

Using my experience with drugstore products, here’s my list of drugstore must-haves!

NYX: Color Correcting Palette, Brow Pencil, Contour Palette, Any of their lipstick lines

NYX is absolutely killing it with their new lip lines. Between the Soft Matte Lip Creams, Lingerie Lipsticks, and the Butter Glosses, you can’t go wrong. They have a color for just about everything you could think of, with the type of lipstick you’re looking for. A lot of people use the Brow Pencil as a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz, and I definitely see why. For the palettes, you definitely get your money’s worth. The contour palette has 8 pods that give you a lot of options for different looks, and the color correcting palette has 6 correctors that work wonders.

Maybelline New York: Dream Cushion Foundation, Age Rewind Concealer, FitMe Line, Master Precise Liner, and Superstay Better Skin Concealer

Maybelline seems to be changing its look all together. The launch of many different new products has taken the makeup community by storm. Starting with the FitMe Line, the concealers and foundations are as great as everyone says they are. Whether you like a matte or dewy finish, you can’t go wrong with either choice. The concealers are great, but I prefer the Age Rewind Concealer. This really does work wonders on dark circles and redness. A lot of people argue between this liner and the Kat Von D Tattoo Ink Liner, so do with that what you will. As for the Superstay Concealer, it’s a perfect concealer for the summer.

Elf Cosmetics: Pretty much anything if you’re in a crunch

Elf products are cheap, but a lot of their products work just as well as products that cost a bit more. My favorites include the Brow Palette, Blush and Bronzer Palette, the Eyeshadow Palettes, and any of their brushes.

Sonia Kashuk: Soft Focus Satin Matte Foundation, Perfecting Luminous Foundation, Chic Defining Contour Stick

I just discovered Sonia Kashuk Cosmetics this past summer and it was a great first impression. I love the Perfecting Luminous Foundation, it’s medium-to-full coverage and it looks flawless on the skin. I haven’t personally haven’t used the matte foundation or the contour stick, but a friend of mine has and she loves it!

So that’s about it (or at least what I have for now). Don’t worry, I have a list of new products I want to try and as soon as I do I’ll update you! Let me know what you love from the drugstore, or give me suggestions!

High-End Must-Haves

As a college student, I totally get the whole “dude, I literally have no money” ordeal. We want to buy the cheapest options to anything, while every once in a while we decide to treat ourselves to something a bit out of our budget. #treatyoself

When it comes to high-end vs. drugstore makeup, there are too many roads to go down. If you’re like me, then you started your makeup collection with a lot of drugstore products. You don’t want to spend too much money on something you don’t know if you’ll even like. When I bought my first high-end product, Benefit Hoola Bronzer, I was hooked. That’s when I really started looking around and researching the best and worst of the makeup world. So this post is for you. I’m taking my experiences with buying high-end products and using them to tell you what’s actually worth it.

Tarte: Shape Tape Concealer, Matte/Glossy Lip Paints, Pro Palette, Hybrid Gel Foundation

With Tarte products, you really can’t go wrong. I love Tarte so much, as you may have seen through my previous posts. These four products listed above are definitely worth the price. I basically live in Tarte products right now.

Too Faced: Better than Sex Mascara, Born this Way Foundation

Out of all of the Too Faced products, these two were the only ones that really stuck out to me. The mascara and foundation are talked about everywhere from blogs to YouTube. The quality of these products is amazing. Although I have changed my foundation, it’s still a great one to try. Also, I will never use another mascara besides this one so I hope that emphasizes the importance.

Kat Von D: Tattoo Ink Liner, Shade and Light Palette, Translucent Powder

Okay, so this eyeliner is my absolute go-to. There’s not much to say about it other than it’s amazing and I haven’t found anything better, yet. Sometimes it does dry up, so you’ll probably go through a couple throughout the year. The last two products I haven’t tried myself, but I know people who have both and love the quality. I’ve heard that the translucent powder is a close runner up for the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, which is another high-end must-have. The Shade and Light Palette has two shades (a very light shade and a banana shade) that are perfect for setting under eyes, too.

Benefit: Any of the New Brow Products, Hoola Bronzer

Any of the brow products that have recently been launched by Benefit are amazing. They have a product for every type of eyebrow shade, and the range of options is great for different preferences some people have when doing their prows. For me, I like Gimme Brow. I mentioned it before and I’ll talk about it again. This bronzer is an oldie but a goodie. I’ve been using this product for awhile now, and I don’t see another runner up quite yet.

Urban Decay: All Nighter Setting Spray, NAKED Skin Concealers

These two were the only products from Urban Decay that I have found and continued to like since purchasing them. I have the Naked 3 Palette, which I like, but it’s not my favorite eyeshadow palette. The concealer was my go-to before I met the Tarte Shape Tape. The NAKED concealer line is amazing, and it also contains a few color correcting concealers. The setting spray is a holy grail. Your makeup will not move through anything, literally anything (long nights out, all day make up, getting frisky, anything guys).

Lastly, I was going to talk about the Beauty Blender, but there are so many dupes that have been released. Ulta Beauty, Tarte, Real Techniques, and many other brands have released beauty sponges that work wonders for their prices. However, I really do love my beauty blender. It’s longer lasting and, in my opinion, the beauty blender blends out everything flawlessly.

Let me know what your favorite products are, and your opinions on the products I mentioned!

Pacifica Beauty

What I find one of the most exciting about the different aspects of makeup is the introduction to a brand you were completely unaware of. We’re used to the big brands like Urban Decay, M.A.C., Maybelline New York, etc. But let’s step away from those for a second.

Sure, it’s scary straying away from what you know works well for you and how different products look on your skin. You trust what you know, and hesitate with what you don’t. Trust me as a makeup fanatic: you NEED to try this brand.

That brand is Pacifica Beauty. While most of us raise an eyebrow to the name, Pacifica Beauty is actually known as one of the most innovative, creative natural beauty brand. Being 100% vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free, the company provides products that are high-performing, full of safe ingredients, and shipped in recyclable packaging.

Here’s the answer to some of the questions that are popping into your head:

  1. What do they have and where can I find their products? A full line consisting of various cosmetic and skin care products, perfumes, candles, and nail polish. You can find their products on their website:, at Ulta and Target, and through other participating retailers.
  1. Okay…but I don’t want to spend too much money… No problem! Pacifica is very budget friendly. Prices of their products range all the way from $5.00 to $69.00 (including pricing for gift sets). It’s great for that “ballin’ on a budget” college lifestyle.
  1. Does it work or will it just sit in the bottom of my makeup bag? Pacifica has a number of products have won different awards for being long-lasting, refreshing and moisturizing, smudge proof, and much more.

Listen, guys, I wouldn’t steer you wrong. This stuff is amazing. Yeah, you’re nervous to waste your money, but didn’t you have the same worries purchasing products from every brand you love for the first time?

Who doesn’t love to travel? You get to see new places, meet new people, and make new memories. The only downside? Packing. I’m sure some people like packing, but that stresses me out. I’m not one to make lists for packing, but I decided to make one for you if you ever need it. (Oh, and BTW this is a makeup travel list, not clothes.)

First, you need your starters. This includes your “meh” level skincare products, moisturizer, and primer. I say “meh” level for this list because sometimes people don’t like to bring their holy grails in case they lose them or want to save them for a bigger event or something. I bring whatever fits, so if that means leaving my foundation behind, then my second runner up it is.

That brings me to the next few steps: foundation, concealer, and powder (if you choose). Depending on how much you crease, you can pick and choose to bring powder. I recommend it just because you never know what’s in store for your trip. Plus, I crease a lot under my eyes so I need it.

For your eyes: eyeliner, mascara, and a mini eyeshadow palette. Another trick I learned was to use your bronzer/contour shades on your eyes instead of eye shadow for a softer, more naturally defining look. A travel mascara and/or eyeliner are always helpful, too.

The next few are pretty much left to your choice. I would suggest bringing the following if you have travel sizes of them: bronzer, blush, and highlighter. Not only will these three give you different looks every day, but they’re very versatile.

Obviously, you need brushes, a beauty blender (if you have one), and a bag to carry all of this in. I included my favorite bag above!

I also showed some of my favorites above. Of course, you can change this to meet your needs. I love makeup so I almost always overpack. Well actually, I overpack for everything but you get the gist. Hope this helps!

Be You and Be Beautiful

So truth is, everyone worries about what others will say or do when we decide to do something new. We get nervous they’re going to make fun of us, talk about us to other people, or even verbally shut us down.

Well here, you don’t have to worry about that at all.

I want this to be your inspiration. I want you to see all that I do here and take the next step toward your dream. I hope that here, you understand how important it is to just be yourself. I hope that here, you message me to talk about your dreams. I’d love to chat; oh boy am I a talker. I want you to know that I am always here.

I used to (and still do at times) obsess over how my makeup is done, how my outfit looks, and if I can pull off the latest abstract trend. Since I started my sophomore year, that changed. I became more carefree and happier about my appearance. Listen, you are living this life for YOU. Not for her or him or them or anyone else. Your opinion is all that matters at the end of the day. Because for every hateful, mean comment you receive? There’s usually 10 positive, uplifting comments coming, sometimes even from people you wouldn’t expect.

When I started to post about my love for beauty, I was afraid of how it would turn out. Let me tell you something: it was worth the risk. And to all of you who have followed, liked, shared, and supported me thus far: thank you. You have really helped me get through the ups and downs of this whole process.

You would tell your friend to do something that she loved no matter what, right? So why not follow that advice? If you want to start a blog or a YouTube channel, do it. Don’t second guess yourself, just do it. Even if you just make the account and never use it, that’s still going for what you want.

You are beautiful, intelligent, and you can light up a room. Don’t listen to the people who want to knock you down, maybe they’re jealous you’re actually doing something you love and that you’re happy about it.

p.s. here’s a silly picture of me with my little cousin and my pride and joy: Bubbies. Enjoy!

If you’re here, that’s probably because you’re just as obsessed with beauty and style as  I am. (or maybe you’re creepin’, if so then hello)

Well, let me tell you something, if you don’t like make up a lot then you probably won’t like this blog too much. But if you do, then this could be dangerous for you. I know when I look at blogs and YouTube channels I constantly make lists of new products I want to try.

My goal on here is to inspire you. I want you to embrace your inner beauty obsessions. Ask me questions, critique my looks, share your thoughts and comments. I love to make new friends through bonding over similar interests. There’s so much to come, and I hope this becomes something you enjoy to check all of the time.

This picture here is just meant for laughs, sometimes pictures come out funny and they’re like “bloopers”. I’ll post a view of those in the future…maybe.
