Emma Watson (pt.2) ?

Below are the details for how I recreated this look! Feel free to let me know what you think of any of these products and the look itself!

Face: Nivea Moisturizing Cream, Tarte Clean Slate Flawless 12-hr Brightening Primer, NYX Color Correcting Concealer, Tarte Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation (light sand), Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (light sand), Laura Mercier Setting Powder

Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Palette, Benefit Hoola Bronzer, Too Faced Love Flushed Blush (Justify My Love)

Eyes: Tarte Tarteist Pro Eyeshadow Palette, BareMinerals You’re Too Sweet 8 PC Set, bareMinerals Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner (absolute black), Kat Von D Tattoo Ink Liner (trooper), Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

For my eyes, I decided to use pinker shadows to brighten up eyes a bit. I tried to smoke it out as hers is, too, and I added a bit of liner. I used Mod in my crease and built it up a bit more on my outer v. I covered the inner half of my eye with Chic to have something that the shimmery shade will stick to. With my new BareMinerals palette, I packed Cupcake on top of Chic and then blended everything out as I saw fit.

Brows: Benefit Gimme Brow (3), Tarte Tartelette Tease Palette (heart-breaker), Elf Brow Palette

Lips: Too Faced Melted Matte (It’s Happening)

So that’s it! Thanks for tuning in 🙂

Emma Watson ?

A lot of people meet tell me I look similar to Emma Watson. I never saw it at all, but I tried anyways? Haha I feel like this sounds more like, i don’t know lol not how I want it to sound. So I’m sorry if it bothers you or offends you in some way. (? I’m awkward)

Anyways, I did this look based off of a look Emma Watson once wore for an interview. Critique as you please, but I was happy about it. My lip is a bit more pink because my lighting and really because I couldn’t find my lipstick that matched hers.

Woohooo I tried! Obviously my lighting was soooo painfully different than hers but ya have to work with what ya have. This was super simple to do, I think the hair was the hardest part actually.

I’m going to post the details and a closer look in another post because then this will be wayyyy to long to tolerate. I hope you liked it, and feel free to comment or critique as you wish 🙂

Hauls/First Impressions

BareMinerals Palette

Hello there beautiful beings. I recently received this in the mail yesterday from my amazing and super thoughtful mom. It’s the BareMinerals Thank you, You’re so Sweet 8 Piece Eye Shadow Palette. If you follow me on Instagram, then you might have seen the unboxing. If not, you’ll see the picture below!

screen-shot-2017-02-21-at-11-38-43-am

The box comes with 8 shimmery BareMineral eyeshadows. They’re very pigmented and look great on! The colors in the box really match with the entire theme, which is SO cute. From the minute I opened the box, I immediately fell in love. The box, theme, and colors are adorable and for how much product you get out of each pot, you can’t beat it. For an $88 value, this set is only $36 at Ulta Stores. I swatched a few of my favorites below!

screen-shot-2017-02-21-at-11-52-51-am

Yeah, I tried that thing where you put tape down to swatch these perfect lines but clearly, they’re not even at all so oh well. Anyways, these 4 are my favorite of the 8. As you can see, these colors are beautifully pigmented and shimmery. They look amazing on the eyes, which I’ll show you in a new look coming soon (hopefully soon lol).

I definitely recommend looking into buying this set. It’s definitely worth the money, especially since it’s at a lower value than what it would be to buy these colors individually.

Let me know if you try it/already have it, and tell me what you think!

High-End Must-Haves

As a college student, I totally get the whole “dude, I literally have no money” ordeal. We want to buy the cheapest options to anything, while every once in a while we decide to treat ourselves to something a bit out of our budget. #treatyoself

When it comes to high-end vs. drugstore makeup, there are too many roads to go down. If you’re like me, then you started your makeup collection with a lot of drugstore products. You don’t want to spend too much money on something you don’t know if you’ll even like. When I bought my first high-end product, Benefit Hoola Bronzer, I was hooked. That’s when I really started looking around and researching the best and worst of the makeup world. So this post is for you. I’m taking my experiences with buying high-end products and using them to tell you what’s actually worth it.

Tarte: Shape Tape Concealer, Matte/Glossy Lip Paints, Pro Palette, Hybrid Gel Foundation

With Tarte products, you really can’t go wrong. I love Tarte so much, as you may have seen through my previous posts. These four products listed above are definitely worth the price. I basically live in Tarte products right now.

Too Faced: Better than Sex Mascara, Born this Way Foundation

Out of all of the Too Faced products, these two were the only ones that really stuck out to me. The mascara and foundation are talked about everywhere from blogs to YouTube. The quality of these products is amazing. Although I have changed my foundation, it’s still a great one to try. Also, I will never use another mascara besides this one so I hope that emphasizes the importance.

Kat Von D: Tattoo Ink Liner, Shade and Light Palette, Translucent Powder

Okay, so this eyeliner is my absolute go-to. There’s not much to say about it other than it’s amazing and I haven’t found anything better, yet. Sometimes it does dry up, so you’ll probably go through a couple throughout the year. The last two products I haven’t tried myself, but I know people who have both and love the quality. I’ve heard that the translucent powder is a close runner up for the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, which is another high-end must-have. The Shade and Light Palette has two shades (a very light shade and a banana shade) that are perfect for setting under eyes, too.

Benefit: Any of the New Brow Products, Hoola Bronzer

Any of the brow products that have recently been launched by Benefit are amazing. They have a product for every type of eyebrow shade, and the range of options is great for different preferences some people have when doing their prows. For me, I like Gimme Brow. I mentioned it before and I’ll talk about it again. This bronzer is an oldie but a goodie. I’ve been using this product for awhile now, and I don’t see another runner up quite yet.

Urban Decay: All Nighter Setting Spray, NAKED Skin Concealers

These two were the only products from Urban Decay that I have found and continued to like since purchasing them. I have the Naked 3 Palette, which I like, but it’s not my favorite eyeshadow palette. The concealer was my go-to before I met the Tarte Shape Tape. The NAKED concealer line is amazing, and it also contains a few color correcting concealers. The setting spray is a holy grail. Your makeup will not move through anything, literally anything (long nights out, all day make up, getting frisky, anything guys).

Lastly, I was going to talk about the Beauty Blender, but there are so many dupes that have been released. Ulta Beauty, Tarte, Real Techniques, and many other brands have released beauty sponges that work wonders for their prices. However, I really do love my beauty blender. It’s longer lasting and, in my opinion, the beauty blender blends out everything flawlessly.

Let me know what your favorite products are, and your opinions on the products I mentioned!

Everything Else

Change is Good

When I want to change my nail color or wallpapers, that’s when I know I need to change something. I like to describe myself as half of Kate and half of Gracie. If you don’t know them: they’re my best friends. Kate wears a lot of bright, bold stuff and Gracie wears darker, more casual stuff. Both of them are absolutely beautiful. Here are pictures of them below 🙂

 screen-shot-2017-02-19-at-10-08-10-pm

So basically, sometimes I want to live in leggings, a t-shirt, black nails, a flannel, and some converse. But sometimes, I want everything to be pink and bright (including my nails) and I want to wear blazers with jeans and heels. This is how I’ve been feeling recently, so I decided to change. I love both sides, and often lean more towards one or the other.

Spring is beautiful. Everything is bright, flowers are blooming, and I want everything to be pastel, bright, and floral. As the days get warmer and the sun starts to come out more, I’ve felt the need to immediately change my entire wardrobe. Change is good. It starts a new chapter in your life. I’m sure you’ve seen this before through movies or friends, but a lot of people change something after a big event, a breakup, or new beginning.

Think about it: don’t you love walking through Target’s aisles, seeing all of the new home or clothing items in the store? I love looking through the different home sections. Every time I go back, it’s like I plan how my room would look if I bought that piece. Plus, watching online YouTubers who look absolutely perfect makes you wanna change, too. See it like this: after a hard breakup in high school, I decided to chop off my hair. It was just refreshing. It was liberating.

So the message through all of this is: change can be scary, but change is good. If you’re feeling down about something, try changing something around you. Do what makes you happy. Whatever you are, be a good one 🙂

Ipsy Bag Review!

Hi there! Every month, I receive an Ipsy bag filled with samples of different products. This month, I was very happy with what I got (like usual). There’s a picture of everything at the top of this, and I’ll make sure to put the brands so you can look for it! If you don’t have Ipsy, you should definitely look into it! Do that here.

  1. NYX Professional Makeup: Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry
  2. IBY Beauty: Highlighter in Bubbly
  3. Elizabeth Mott: Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer
  4. BeFine Food Skin Care: Gentle Face Cleanser
  5. Luxie Beauty: Luxie Rose Gold Blush Brush 514

Everyone hears about the new NYX lipstick lines are amazing. I was happy to get this one because it was the last line I had to try. This is amazing. It’s so creamy and very pigmented, and it gives you a bold, red lip that adds a pop to any look.

I, personally, have never heard of IBY Beauty before. I was really impressed with their highlighter. The color is beautiful, it’s very pigmented, and it’s buildable. You can have a soft glow, or add a few layers to have a more intense highlight.

I’ve also never heard of Elizabeth Mott before, but as with the highlighter, I was very impressed. The bronzer is a perfect mix between a contour shade and the bronzer shade. I tried to use this for contouring and it was great, I just wish I had a bigger size to really test it out.

BeFine Food Skin Care is another new brand for me. My skin is really weird. I usually have clear, soft skin, but recently I’ve had dry patches on my face. Using this has helped clear the patches and really moisturize my face.

Okay, this Luxie brush is amazing. It applies blush, highlighter, and bronzer beautifully. I mean just look at it, the rose gold is gorgeous. I definitely want to get more Luxie brushes soon.

Comment below if you get Ipsy and had thoughts on the products! Until next month, thanks for reading 🙂

How To's | Routines, How To:

Contouring Lips?

Yepp, you read that right. Contouring became big over the past year, and everyone seems to be talking about it. Mostly, when people hear contouring they think of making their face appear naturally thinner. You either use the “3” method with highlighting and contouring or maybe you have your own routine. But what a lot of people forget is: you can make your lips appear naturally fuller!

Trust me, I don’t do this every day. I don’t want you to get the idea that I take time every single day to do this, because who has time for that. This is just for when I’m feeling myself or a bigger event and more intense makeup looks.

I’m no beauty guru so I could be totally wrong. This just works for me and it’s simple enough that anyone should be able to do it. So keep on reading if you wanna see how I do this then keep on reading! 🙂

pouty-fuller-looking-lips_2_contour

So as you see here, this focuses mainly the underside of your lower lip and the area around your cupids bow. When I start, I blend in a lighter bronzer or contour shade in the middle of cupids bow. I’m bad at describing this, I mean that little dip you have that connects the tip or your lips to your nose? Yeah, that. After blending that in, I use a highlight shade to highlight the top part of my upper lip. Moving onto the lower lip, which I think really makes a difference. Grabbing that shade you used above on a small smudge brush, lightly line the bottom half of your lower lash (better shown above). After blending everything is as you like it, apply lip liner and a lipstick and you’re good to go!

#Tarte has my #heart

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

If you know me personally, you’ll know that I seldom am really proud of my looks. Sure, I like how they turn out, but I am genuinely proud of this one. I used a TON of Tarte products with this look, and as the title says: Tarte really does have my heart.

Face: Belief Moisturizing Cream, Tarte Clean Slate Flawless 12-hr Brightening Primer, NYX Color Correcting Concealer, Tarte Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation (light sand), Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (light sand), Laura Mercier Setting Powder

Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Palette, Benefit Hoola Bronzer, IBY Beauty Highlighter (bubbly)

Eyes: Tarte Tarteist Pro Eyeshadow Palette, bareMinerals Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner (absolute black), Kat Von D Tattoo Ink Liner (trooper), Elf Cosmetics Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

For my eyes, I got to finally use the Tarte Tarteist Pro Palette. This is and probably will forever be my go-to eyeshadow palette. Tarte products are really impressing me lately, and I couldn’t be happier. I even have a Tarte purple and black choker (it was a gift lol). For this look,  I out Bold on my entire lid for a base. I popped Innocent into my crease for a transition powder. I blended Whimsy in the outer-v of my eye. On a small smudge brush, I blended Punk on top of that. After blending out the crease and outer corner, I put Innocent onto the 3/4 of my eyelid, then topped that with Ethereal. On my lower lashline, I smudged Whimsy to complete the look. Using my go-to liner, Kat Von D Tattoo Ink Liner, I created a small, thinner wing. Adding my two favorite mascaras to my top and bottom lashes, this became my favorite look I’ve done yet. 🙂

Brows: Benefit Gimme Brow (3), Tarte Tartelette Tease Palette (heart-breaker)

Lips: NYX Lingerie (Bedtime Flirt)

Let me know if you try this out and how it goes! Also, feel free to chat with me, comment, like, or share this with anyone you wish! 🙂 It’s absolutely beautiful here at school, and I hope it’s beautiful where you are, too. Thanks for reading!

Get Ready With Me!, Look Book

Valentine’s Day ♥

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This look I created above was for my own Valentine’s Day date tonight with my sweet sweet man, Matthew. (Yes I made him take the picture of me in front of his door, he’s supportive like that)

Face: Mario Badescu Facial Spray, Tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12-Hr Perfecting Primer, Double Duty Beauty Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, Laura Mercier Setting Powder

Tarte Tarteist ProGlow Palette, Too Faced Deluxe Love Flush Blush (So Happy Together)

Eyes: Makeup Revolution Mermaids Forever 32 Piece Eyeshadow Palette, Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, Laura Geller Eyeshadow Palette (Cherry Cordial), itCosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette in Romantics, bareMinerals Long Lasting Eyeliner, Kat Von D Tattoo Ink Liner, itCosmetics Superhero Mascara, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

**With the eye look, I didn’t have a palette that gave me all of the different colors and pigments I wanted, soooo I just used some from 4 different palettes whoops. I pulled my top liner to the inner corner of my eye, which added so much to the look. It made my eyes bigger, it really accentuated my wing, and it kinda finished up the whole eye look. Adding a black liner to your waterline after will really put it all together, too.

Brows: Elf Studio Eyebrow Kit (Light), Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Gel Mini

Lips: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (Addis Ababa), Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint (Hella)

For my outfit, I wanted something kinda casual but cute and pretty girl to match the look. Although this definitely didn’t seem casual, it was very comfortable.

Top: Madewell

Scarf: Etsy (thanks mum)

Bottom: Any pair of black tights (I can’t remember where mine were from lol sorry), GAP Black Pencil Skirt (with pockets!!! I think it’s discontinued, though; I got this skirt like 2 years ago

Shoes: Sam Edelman Louie Fringed Booties (GUYS these are so comfortable I could live in just these shoes for the rest of my life. I know I usually don’t link things, which I will start soon, but I just had to link these to show you.)

Hope you enjoyed this look! Feel free to comment, like, or share this post!

p.s. Sorry for the HORRIBLE quality on these pics. My camera battery died and this is what I was left with 🙂

To be honest...

Makeup is My Outlet

For starters, this post isn’t going to be super upbeat and happy. This is a more grounded, sharing type of post. In no way shape or form am I looking for sympathy or anything like that. I want to share my story so others who are struggling can know that they’re not alone. As I’ve said before, I want this blog to be a place where you can relax, chat, and get away from your everyday life. This post is very important to me, and I hope you see why.

So here it goes:

I suffer from severe Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Major Depression. It’s only recently spiraled out of control, but I’m working through it. Sometimes I feel fine, I can go to class or wherever I need to go, and I can get all of my work done. Most of the time, however, I can’t get out of bed, leave my room, or get any work done. I have panic attacks that sometimes out of nowhere. There are a lot of days where I feel that I can’t even speak to people without having a panic attack, so I just stay in. Sometimes I’ll love to be around my friends, and other times I’ll leave abruptly because I physically, emotionally, or mentally handle being around other people (even my friends and family). If you’ve been around me for even just a few days, I’m sure you’ve noticed me randomly leaving, not speaking much, or even having to cancel plans because I can’t physically bring myself to go anywhere.

I’ve been struggling for awhile now, and only recently have I received the full help I need to work through it. I have a therapist who I trust and love to talk to, and a psychiatrist who knows what medication is right for me. I have a strong support system of family, friends, peers, and my boyfriend. This picture below, this is what I look like after a panic attack. Which is OKAY. Being put together doesn’t have to happen all of the time.photo-on-2-14-17-at-11-36-pm

Although some days are worse than others, I finally found something that can temporarily distract me from all of this: makeup.

I know it seems silly, but I don’t love makeup just because it’s fun. I love makeup because it brings out a side of me I never really thought was there. This is something I feel that I’m finally decent at doing, and something I can work with every day if I need to. This is an outlet for me, a healthy, loving outlet. Especially now with my blog and Instagram, I’ve been introduced to a community that loves and supports me no matter who I am or what my story is. Everyone who reads, comments, or likes my posts: you have no idea how much you mean to me.

Everyone who reads, comments, or likes my posts: you have no idea how much you mean to me. Without you guys, there wouldn’t be anywhere for me to go. I feel so much love and support from everyone around me, and I can’t tell you how thankful I am for that. I hope this post shows you that it’s okay to not be okay all of the time. That’s one of the reasons I always want people to feel free to chat with me. I want everyone and anyone who needs someone to talk with to know they have me. I hope this inspires you to find your outlet if you’re struggling, or to help your friend if you notice they’re struggling. If you stuck with this post until this point, then thank you (and you’re a real trooper).

You are beautiful. You are bright. You are important. Don’t ever let anyone else darken your spark. Please come to me if you ever need anything. I love you all to the moon and back.

xx – Em ♥
